I saw that some people were making custom tap handles online, so I thought I would give it a try. Here's a basic how-to as well as some images of my new tap handles.

Nice looking and seem pretty simple to put together. Where did you find generic chair legs at Lowes? I have never spotted them there.

They were in the same isle as the "good" lumber. Wherever your Lowes keeps their pre-sanded oak boards is where I found mine. I'm sure if you ask someone they would be able to direct you to them. I think they were only like $2.80 each. The great thing is that the ferrule you can buy from MoreBeer screws right onto the threads so you don't have to worry about getting that part straight.

Just noticed this thread, but on the subject, i have 2 lathes, a small wood one and a lrger one that can also do metal. I am an (very )avid duck and waterfowl hunter so i often turn my own calls, but when i made my tri-tap kegerator i thought what could be better than to have duck call tap handles! I have two turned right now and working on a couple others. We have a rare earth hardwood shop in the next town over so i can get some cool wood there. Custom made taps are even cooler when you made them yourself.

I had table leg handles like the ones you made but they made it hard to get kegs in and out of the freezer.

I got rid of those and just went with 3 X 4 X 3/4 blocks. They are no taller then the black handles but it gives me a place to put lables.
