Temperature Control Devices and Freezers

I bought an analog temperature Controller from Northern Brewer a while back. After reading about the controller here, I am not comfortable using it for Fermentation temps. A 3 degree variance is to much for me. So, which Temperature Controller would you recommend for a Chest Typer Freezer?

And about Freezers. Will they hold a temp of 65 degrees? I mean, they are meant for keeping things frozen. What happens to them when they are not working for what they are meant to be used for? Reason I ask is that I will be buying SOMETHING to primary Ferment in and Lager in. It's a toss up between a Chest Freezer or a Refridgerator. Chest Freezer I like better because of more usable room without having to add racks for a second Carboy, like I would have to do with a refridgerator. But the Fereezer and the higher temps worry me. Any comments?

Well insulation is insulation. If it keeps thing frozen well then it will keep them cool well also.

As far as the 3 degree swing, I don't think that's to much. But if you are concerned, just put the probe in a smaller volume of water rather than sticking it to the carboy. The smaller volume of water will still buffer the temp swings but it will warm up and cool down faster than the 5 gallons of wort. Thus you should end up with a pretty tight temp control.

I'm a fan of the Love TS Controllers, but the Rancos & Johnsons are great too.

I'll chime in.
The very first unit is complete and in testing.
Shortly the beta testers will be getting theirs.
I have heard rumors that they will be partnering with a larger manufacturer, doing this will make them easier to produce but could cause some delays due to gubmit testing and whatnot.
This will lead to a more consistant and quality product, as well as a more finished look and feel, this is a good thing. I know, I want it to stay independent and the little guy to rule but according to the little guy and main product developer this may be the way to go. None of this is written in stone, so stay tuned for developments. I guess the good news about all this is that since some big time firms are sniffing around all this, that it is really cool and gonna work, what I've been saying all along! I'll update you all when it is appropriate.
