G'day all....quick question as I prep to brew today here in S. Illinois.

Recently I soaked my immersion chiller in StarSan to clean some of the darker green off near the hose connections. I know this residue is somewhat toxic (well, I think it is.)

Do I need to mix up a new batch of StarSan or is my current batch still safe for sanitation today (assuming my pH is still good...I mix withdistilled water and stretch each batch a couple months)?

If the pH is still good and it's not cloudy your probably fine. On the other hand what does it cost to mix up another batch? Pretty cheep insurance in my eyes.

That's kinda what I figured.....off to go by extra distilled H2O so I have extra.

+1. Why cahnce it? It's cheap and I wouldn't want to fuck up over a few cents. Plus that shit all over a well used chiller is foul.

Done...the nasty stuff was only at the top and does not make contact with the beer. I am soaking the top in vinegar just to clean it good. Made a new 6 gal batch of StarSan w/RO water and have kicked off the brew day. I begin batch sparging in 40 minutes and then on to the boil.
