Does anyone have a good website the describes how to convert a keg into a brew kettle.

Im sure there are sites out there, but here's my .02 worth. Draw out your circle to cut the top out of your keg, size can vary depending on if you have a lid to fit it. I used grinder with a cut off wheel to cut mine, the sawzall seemed to be pretty rough cutting, but still works. I then went online and found a place that had stainless steel couplers (i went with 1/2'). then had the local welder weld thse into the keg near the bottom as far as possible near the curved bottom. You can then go to the local hardware and pick up a union to couple a valve to the pot.
I dont have it yet but plan to put a sight gauge on mine with the same basic idea but with stainless elbows and food grade tubing. Im sure someone else has a more detailed blueprint of how to do it "the right way". good luck

I found this site when I was looking to convert two of my own. I think that this is, by far, the best way to convert a keg. It took me a couple of minutes per keg. The hole is perfectly round. All I had to do was run a file around the edge to deburr it. I adjusted the radius on mine to achieve a perfect 12" hole that fits my old brewpot lid.

I just converted a keg to a boil kettle last week. I found a guy at work (a retired machinist) who had a plasma cutter in his shop at home. For the cost of a six pack of home brew he cut a nearly perfect 12" circle in the top for me. I dressed up the cut with a stone on my dremel tool to the point that it is as smooth as a baby's butt.

I then cut a 7/8" hole with a bi-metal hole saw with the bottom edge of the hole 3/16" above the bottom weld. This gave me just enough clearance for the weldless bulkhead I installed. I installed a Zymico sanke adapter and a bazooka screen

Over the top of this I also rigged a 12" domed stainless steel grease splatter screen as additional protection against clogging the bazooka screen with hops.
