I just saw these today near the diabetes blood testing section. They are pre packaged wipes soaked in alcohol. I was thinking these could be a handy tool to have around for clean ups and cleaning the tops of carboys. Not to mention you could probably use it on your hands. Anyone use these?

It might be a wast of materials. I am relatively happy with swabs and alcohol but this sounds intriguing.

My version of an alcohol wipe is if my keg leaks in the garage and I clean up the mess with a paper towel.

I'm scared of an alcohol wipe on the market. I'd probably try to wring them out in my mouth. I hope they're Northern English Brown.

I was thinking more of using them when you are messing around with putting things in the mouth of the carboy. I usually soak a q-tip with alcohol and run it around the lip and then flame it keep from wee beasties from going in with the equipment or liquids.

I may try them. I don't think they will hurt. EZ packaging and storage. They are used for diabetics to clean their skin before pricking and they say they are soaked with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Doesn't list any other ingredients.

Maybe I should try using them on my open wounds first or when I'm about to shoot up.

I use these wipes alot too. They are handy to wipe something down when I cannot find my bottle of Starsan.

Cool. I may pick up a box. After how gunky this fermentation made the lip of my carboy, it would be nice to actually wipe the yeast off the lip and then flame a clean lip of glass. I get some sort of sick pleasure of flaming the lip of the carboy. Die bacteria, die!

Yes, I think its a great idea. I saw brew-boy using them and said damn what a great idea I'm going to get some. As of yet I still have none. But thanks to this thread I will hopefully remember to pick some up.

I bought a box and used one to wipe around the keg lid before I opened it up for dry hopping. Just made me feel better. I'm sure there are more uses like cleaning yeast goop. Give it a try.

my wife is a nurse and keeps a handful of these in her pocket during her shift. When she gets home, there is usually a few leftover. I've never used them for brewing but I use them for alot of other things around the house.
