I happened across this site
Surplus Centeron the More Beer forums and thought it might be of some use to the folks here.. The link above goes to a refrigeration/cooling unit for $29.95
Here is the B3 forum link:

Those folks are local to me. I've been buying stuff from them for over 40 years. Great folks to do business with. That cooling unit is really too small to be useful for anything in brewing. It only holds about a quart and a half.
I usually refer folks to them for the Bodine gear motors that are popular for motorizing grain mills.

Years ago they were a major military surplus and sporting goods outlet, but now about all they have is industrial surplus stuff. Still fun to stroll through there though. Come to think of it, I haven't been there in a while. I think I will drop in there tomorrow when I'm in the neighborhood.

I was thinking it might be enough for a fermentation chamber, something big enough for my fleabay conical at ~48 degrees. Not big enough?

The cooled vessel inside the thing is 9"x5"x8" or less than 6L. That better be one tiny conical!
OTOH, perhaps you could scavenge the compressor and coils and such and either build your own box or even attach it to the conical?
Edit: Now that I read it again, it has a 'flexible cooling jacket, 33"x8.5"' that sounds like it might work great wrapped around a carboy or conical. Sort of a fermwrap that cools instead of heats?

I was thinking of either the "fermwrap method" or maybe building an insulated box and using the "flexible cooling jacket" inside the box. The only thing is, I have no idea if this thing is powerful enough.
