What's up brewin' brothas...
Has anyone ever tried the Fermentap from B3. That little thing that let's you use your carboy as a conical?
How is it?
This old boy doesn't have the shillings to buy a conical, but like the idea.

I've never used one, but word is that the slope of the shoulders of a carboy is not steep enough to make this thing work. To have any shot at it at all, you have to tap or twist the carboy a couple of times a day to encourage the yeast to drop.
Oh, better hope the krausen doesn't build up to the point of clogging the vent tube, either. That would make a nice mess.
Supposed to be a nice carboy drying stand, tho

From what I hear, the carboy neck is not really the right shape for this and trub gets stuck and doesn't fall down all of the way.
You'll want a rubber mallet to tap the sides of the carboy with when draining the trub or racking out.

This was not how the carboy was meant to be used either. You are putting a lot of stress on the neck of that thing. It is cheap glass so take your chances.

I have one, used it once, and recommend you save your money. It's a good idea that just doesn't pan out in practical use. All the above comments are correct. In addition, inverting a full carboy can be a tricky maneuver. It simply isn't worth the additional hassle.
I do use the stand for draining/drying carboys, but you can buy those separately.

You can just cut a short piece of a large pvc pipe to hold a carboy upside-down for drying.
