stainless passivation (spelling)?

I poured a half ounce of un diluted Star San into the bottom of a keg kettle on top of a rust spot hoping it would "Passivate"?? the rust spot. It looks like it worked pretty good in about an hour. I would like to treat the whole inside of the keg. What level of concentration would it take and how long would the solution have to sit inside of the keg to make her shine? Or is there a cheaper solution?

Thanx

Check out Star Sans web site: http://www.fivestarchemicals.com/brew.asp and click on "Brewery Cleaning and Sanitizing". You can email them your question also. I think they would recommend PBW to passivate the rust spot.

Get Bar Keepers Friend

Get a can of Bar Keepers Friend and a green scrubby. That stuff is amazing for cleaning off rust and tough stains, and the Oxalic acid will take care of repassivating.
