Howdy,

Is anyone using these and can the spigot be fully disassembled for cleaning/sanitizing. I'm concerned that unreachable parts of the spigot can harbor infections.

Yes, it can.

On a side note, these things rule! I have had the 15 gallon one for a while now and the only adjustment I made to it was an extra hole in the lid for a stopper with a thermowell. The plastic is just too thick to get a good reading by insulating and taping a probe.

I have the 15 gallon version and yes it can be disassembled and sanitized. I also had the same concern when I bought it but so far so good. Defi nitely better than 2 6 gallon glass carboys....although I would much prefer stainless

those speidels are some expensive ass fermenters!!!!! nice though wonder wat's the advantage to speidels over brew buckets, youre still talking about plastic as a fermenter. you should switch out your buckets once in a while to avoid infections from scratches in the plastic.

Not all plastic is created equal. There are thousands of different formulations. Just because it's plastic doesn't mean it's the same thing as a brew bucket.

No 1st hand experience with the Speidel's, but the MiniBrew's are fantastic. Been using my plastic conicals for several years & they're awesome. I've heard a number of good things about the Speidel's so I wouldn't hesitate to try them out. Just keep in mind that any high quality plastic fermenter requires special care & you're going to spend considerable time/energy cleaning them properly.

id bet, prob only using pbw and something else to clean them out, all chemical cleaning instead of scrubbing with anything I'm sure would be best

I have two 15gal Speidels and they are fantastic! I do long soaks with PBW to clean mine immediately after each use and that does the trick. No scrubbing required. The spigot is awesome and does a great job of leaving behind trub so you get nice clear beer into your kegs/bottles/etc. I also drilled an extra hole in the lid for a thermowell stopper.
