Help - Indent / Bump on Bottom of Kettle

In prep for brewing tommorrow I pulled out my kettle and noticed there is a bump or indent on the bottom of the kettle. The bump is about an inch in length but isn't very deep.
I just wanted to see if anyone has had a similar issue, and whether you think the kettle is still safe to use.
Cheers,
Sean.

It may explode!
If it's shallow and doesn't look like the metal has been compromised, you likely don't have any worries about leakage.

Fill it with water. If any comes out, you have a leak.
In all seriousness, if it's a stainless steel pot, it's fine. If it's an aluminum pot, it's still probably fine. Stuff made out of metal tends to be quite durable. Nobody throws away dented kegs, right?

I boiled some water in it last night over the stove to sterilize the pot (before noticing the dent), so it should be fine. My main concern is that I use a propane burner for the boil and just wanted to make sure there wasn't an additional risk with the direct heat.
Cheers!

Sounds like you just warped the metal. Happens to my pots at the restaurant all the time. Usually comes from heating the pot while dry.
my two cents,

My aluminum kettle has numerous dents. Never had a problem.
