Newell Instruments Brewometer

Has anybody tried out the Newell Instruments Brewometer?
Here is the URL for it:

I saw it on page 7 of the Sept./Oct. 2006 Zymurgy and found it interesting. Yes, it only works in Windows, but it is still intriguing. It could be nice to bring a laptop out to where you're brewing and take gravity readings and what not...well, unless you get wort in the keyboard.
This device also seems to obtain a final gravity, even with alcohol present, so it must be somewhat different than what is happening in a refractometer (unless it does a correction calculation of some sort).
I'll probably just stick with my hydrometer set for gravity readings for now, but maybe if I stumble onto 170 dollars I'll give it a shot.
Again, if anybody owns one of these, I'd like to hear his thoughts about it.
