Anyone ever try to port their plastic carboy? I bought one from B3 recently (came from the vintage shop, link here ) and have been trying to get away from siphoning making trasfering easier. Also would it be possible to use a simple valve, like the ones found on the buckets, like this one, with a pickup tube. The set up would be similar to the better bottle ones, but cost alot less. Any advice would be helpfull before i go drilling. Thanks

Have you considered doing a CO2 push to do transfers?

Put one of these on the PET carboy

Then attach to the pipe threads in the bulkhead fitting

Cut the PET any way you can. I'd use a soldering iron tip on low power (or a hot nail) it'll leave a smoother edge. Locate your hole somewhere on the carboy where the surface is uninterrupted by raised molded features and such. Use the smallest fitting you can get your pick up tube through if you are using a pick up tube.
