Why not use a water filter canister like this full of hops?

These can be found at MoreBeer for under $30 or even less at WalMart or Home Depot.

If your beer is too cloudy, you can put the filter cartridge back in it and use it to filter your beer. I don't think the Blichmann system can do dual duty like that.

fair point bugeater but I dont think you cant use a water filter for a hopback, and its nowhere near as shiny looking

I saw a video about this by John Blichmann a while ago (i cant find it now), it looks like a good product.

As far as using a house filter, i would suspect you would get channelization, without the filter installed.
