Tasty's VS Jamil's bottling method

I've heard bits and pieces of a discussion (maybe argument) between tasty and Jamil about bottling techniques when filling from a keg
I think it was on the Dortmunder Export show
My question is, what is the argument and what is the method the two use??
Why was Jamil dissing Tasty's method??
Jamil was saying that tasty's method was fine for the short term but wouldn't hold up on the long term. I heard tasty say that he was using a counter pressure bottle filler so what is the problem
How does Jamil do it??
what is the best way and how does the Blichmann beer gun compare??

I thought Tasty was using the racking cane attached to the picnic tap to do his fills, but I thought he was purging his bottles with co2 first.
I'm thinking about going the beer gun route soon.

ahh - maybe your right
That sounds like about what was said
So what is the difference between the beer gun and this method besides the obvious upgrade in sophistication? The beer gun is no counter pressure bottle filler

If Tasty isnt first purging with CO2, his beer is more prone to oxygen exposure(it doesnt matter if you are going to drink the beer shortly after bottling).
The beer gun is essentially a counter pressure filler. You first purge the bottles with CO2 and then you fill the bottles up.
Both methods work great. For long term storage you woudl probably want to purge the bottles with CO2...

The beer gun diverges from a counterpressure filler in that, well, there is no counterpressure.
The beer gun is a expensive version of the tasty method (pre-evacuate with c02 then fill slowly from the bottom with no counterpressure). A counterpressure filler is similar but with counterpressure which lets you fill faster without foaming and which virtually guarantees no oxygen ingress during the fill (though if you cap on foam, maybe that doesn't matter much).

now the instructions on the beer gun say as you are removing it to give the head space of the bottle a shot of CO2 to purge out the O2 - wouldn't this take care of the problem??
this is an interesting subject that almost seems worthy of a Brew Strong episode don't you guys think??
good discussion

I think they are planning something for the bottling and kegging part 2 episode ( after numerous burp and fart jokes of course ).
