I have a 15.5 gallon boil pot. I currently use an auto siphon to remove the wort after boil/cooled to my carboy. This is a pain so I am going to add a ball valve to my kettle.

What screening device is best to filter the break material? (I mostly use hop pellets). Or is there another method that works?

These are my 2 boil attachments. The one that's installed is a piece of soft copper tubing that you can literally bend by hand. It fits into the kettle with a compression nut and a male pipe fitting. I'm sure if you go to a hardware store with your boil kettle, someone could help you get it set up. Mine cost $5. It works really well in not disturbing the cone after the whirlpool.

The other one pictured is what I use for whole hops.

TCC. if you're only using pellets, this works great for me. Just simple 1/2" copper hardware.

Yep. After cooling when you whirlpool the wort, the hot and cold break and hop pellet material will form a lovely cone in the middle of the kettle. Having the pickup on the outside helps insure that you suck up much less break material and avoid any clogging while draining the kettle.
