Starting brewery, what equipment should I be looking into?

I'm looking into the Electrobrewer electric brewing system, it looks pretty sweet I gotta say! Something streamlined like this would be perfect, I just wonder if there's any other systems like this in that price-range?

Also, www.electrobrewer.com is their site, but It seems like brand-new technology, so I guess I'm asking if this is something that's all new, or have there been similar devices in the past, that I should be checking out?

Welcome to the forum. Why don't you tell us a little about yourself and about your brewing experience. That will give folks around here a much better idea of what advice to give you.

For someone just starting out that is a very pricey piece of gear. For half that price you can pick up a fully tricked out Morebeer 2050 http://morebeer.com/view_product/8918/1 ... wSculpture that would do the same job more efficiently. The electric feature is nice, but not $5,000 nicer.

Do you have any connection with the outfit you linked to or did you just come by that at random? If you are looking for gear for a pro brewery, give the folks at www.morebeer.com a call and they can help design a system for you. You can also ask around over at www.probrewer.com for help with systems designed specifically for small breweries.

I would buy a freezer or fridge with a temperature controller for fermentation control before anything else.

I've always been into that concept. Those in-line electric heaters are becoming commonplace in homes, how cool to use one to heat strike and sparge water and eliminate the need for a HLT.

Eliminating a vessel for $5000, though? Not worth it for me.

While the thing certainly is attractive I think it's worth noting that though 6 kW may seem like a lot of heat it isn't when you are dealing with 20 gal of water. To raise that much water from 60 °F to 150 °F would take 3/4 hour at 100% effiiciency (which this configuration wouldn't be given that the piping between the heating chamber and the "kettle" is un insulated as is the kettle itself. At the same time I am most amused by the suggestion on the website that it can be run "green" by hooking it up to solar panels or a windmill. That would be some set of solar panels.
