Good idea, bad implementation

For years I've been preaching that you should always have a spare propane tank when brewing. Today I'm brewing. I pulled out my burner and propane tank and noticed the tank was close to empty. I figured I would just run that tank dry and switch to my spare.
Sure enough when the wort got to 180° the tank ran out. I grabbed the other tank. Crap!!! I forgot to get it filled!
Had to run to the store to exchange it real quick. Fortunately that was only a 10 minute trip but still cost $5 more than when I refill.
The wort only dropped about 5 degrees while I was gone so no problems with resuming the brew. I hope nothing else goes wrong. The other empty tank is now sitting in the car so I will remember to fill it as soon as the brew session is done.
Moral of the story: Keep your spare tank full!
