How much do your nuts weigh?

I'm dry hopping an IPA. I chunked three 3/8 stainless nuts and a 4" length of SS tubing in the sack with the hops. I thought sure the hops would soak up enough wort to sink. Nope. Seven days later the sucker is still floating. Major fail!

If you could clue me in on how much weight it takes to sink an ounce of leaf hops I would be eternally grateful. Heck, I might even remember your nic next time the subject comes up :D.

You using pellets? Those fuckers are buoyant! The also explode (swell). I use stainless steel washers and a muslin hop sack for dry hopping and never had any problems. If you are using nuts... just double it up until you get something that works. However, I have had success with 2 1/2" stainless washers.
