How much PBW to use

Maybe it's been asked before, I don't know.

Does everyone use 1-2oz per gallon of water? That seems like a lot.

While we're here...what's the harm in using 70° water?

I have been using around 1.5oz per gal and I agree with you, I think it's too much. I don't know what the right answer is but I will be trying .5 to .75 oz per gal next time. On water temp, I use between 120F and 140F. I believe the upper limit is 160F. Above that, PBW begins to break down and becomes less effective and harder to wash off.

I know the amount you use should be proportional to soil load so if you're washing JP's undies, better thow all that shit in.

I asked the guy at the LHBS on Saturday about this and he said he uses 1/2 what they recommend. So I used .5 oz per gallon yesterday and it seemed to work fine.

1/2 of what they reccomend is what I use also. My rule of thumb is that if I stick my fingers into the PBW mix, and it feels soapy, then I'm good to go.

Thanks for the responses guys. I used it for the first time a couple weeks ago on the new secondaries. It just seemed like there was a shit ton of wasted PBW.
