Why cant I rinse out the chemical smell

I decided to use CLR (calcium, lime, rust remover) on all my carboys and erlenmeyers to remove the hard water stains and now they all smell like CLR no matter how much I rinse. They're nice and clean like new, but who gives a shit if they still contain residual chemical. I followed the directions exactly, using warm water for the wash and cold for the rinse. anyone else have experience with this situation?

CLR is a blend of acids and surfactant to help it get in the cracks so try a baking soda and water solution and if that doesn't work try PBW.
