Has anyone got a Crankandstein mill? If so are they any good?
They look identical to the monster mills.
I was thinking of getting the two roller model, these are cheaper than anything I can get in the UK.

I have a three roller crankandstein and it works great, but its the only mill i've ever used so i have no frame of reference.

I have one of the 2-roller models, and it is great. No problems and I crush pretty fine.

I have a crankandstein 2 roller mill also. Never had a problem with it. I couldn't beat it for the money.

+1 on the 2 roller for $88 or something like that. Get the one that adjusts on both ends. I picked one up and it is great. If you want to motorize other than a drill, look into the 1/2 inch shaft upgrade. Monster mills are similar, and are a spin-off of crankandstein. I am sure they are just as good. I built a hopper and base that was inspired by slobrewer's design:

I thought his design was pretty slick.

Crushing your own base malts lowers cost significantly. Now if I could just get a decent harvest off of my hop vines, I will have succeeded in the unthinkable, drinking good beer cheaply. Life will be good.
