Mash Tun paddles

Last weekend I was making homemade ice cream and while setting there watching the paddles go around wondered if anyone ever adapted that same setup to a 10 Gal. Gott cooler? It seems to me you could at a minimum drill a hole in the lid and setup a manual crank to paddles in the mash and give it a still every few minutes. Does anyone know if this has been done before?

Seems reasonable to me. Might be a good idea to connect your temperature probe to the paddle.

I have seen that. It looked to be an easy build too. Now if I can just remember where I saw it. I think it was Golden dog brewery. Anyway it looked like a good setup. Good torque motor with slow speed. I actually started crusin ebay for an old style icecream maker at one point. But like many other projects, it has taken the back burner.
Found another link.

I have an ice cream motor I've been trying to figure out how and if I want to use it in my mash. It's been sitting on the table next to my brew stand. Maybe one day I'll either use it or put it away.
