Arduino PID and Web Reporting Dashboard

Sun Jan 29, 2012 7:06 pm

Recently I was able to create an Arduino PID based controller which reported data to a webserver as shown below in dashboard form:

The possiblites are endless with this (fermentation control, hot liquor tank control, brew kettle control, mash tun, or all of the above).

The full tutorial can be viewed here - http://fermentationriot.com/arduinopid.php Hope it is useful to someone...

Also I definitely do not consider myself an arduino or HTML/PHP coding expert...so any suggestions are definitely appreciated!

Great Job!!! I've been fiddling around with something like this for a different Web IO controller board. I am going to look this over and consider doing this.

I just looked over the code and you have already helped me with something I was stuck on!!! Fantastic!!!
Let me throw this out there for you... I had looked around for javascript dials and charts, and my preference is to have the javascript hosted locally on my PHP/Webserver, so I decided on Bindows Free Gauges and Highcharts. Let me know what you think.

Without a doubt arduino(s) is/are a very flexible IO platform. Here's the hardware I am working with...

Ebay Item #270809014985. If the link fails the seller is racksys and the store is IT Cables, they've been selling these now for several years.
I have no affiliation with the vendor/seller. The buy now price includes an enclosure/project box. Auction is for the bare board.

I'm using the same webcontrol board to control my fermenters and chiller. Works pretty nicely.

Very cool. Can someone show pictures of the temperature probe? Do you need a thermowell for HLT and mash tun applications? The accuracy seems slightly concerning for a mash tun, but to be honest I have RTD probes and I can't remember how accurate they are.
Aging: Gotlandsdrickå, Baltic Porter in Bourbon barrel, Olde Ale #2 in whiskey barrel
On Draft: Nothing. Building a walk-in cooler right now.

Wort Slurpin is using 1-wire temp probes (as am I).

A thermowell would be ideal. I soldered my probes to the wire, then covered with silicone, then heat shrink tubing. I did an extended test on one of mine to make sure it was waterproof, but I don't ever plan one submersing them.

Brewers Hardware sells some probes already wired up: http://www.brewershardware.com/BrewTrol ... t-Sensors/

Thermowells from www.dudadiesel.com
Search DS18B20 on ebay, there are some that set up in a probe type stainless steel case.
