My IC does about 20 minutes on 5 gallons. I wouldn't mind 15 on 10. I don't feel like effin' with a pump, either, though.

Well, the other thing you could do is to make one that looks like the old school electric coil on your stove, and you could lift it up and down (making for the strong, sexy bicep muscles that JP craves on a man). That would probably work faster, and you would only have to notch the lid of your pot - keeping the critters at bay.

I remember when I bought a IC to use a prechiller...that didn't last long. Now I just run two 25' in the kettle at the same time and run ice water through it.

When we would make chillers at my LHBS we would use a corny keg to wrap the coils around.
