New Mash Tun

Thu Jul 23, 2009 7:51 am

So I got the first part from my welding buddy in the club for my new Mash Tun. This will be the outlet. It will clamp to the neck of a Sanke I have. I have the B3 folding false bottom. Should be able to get to putting it together next weekend.

Got some work done this weekend in between working on my truck, and bicycle. Getting the bike ready to get back into training. I committed to a big ride next summer and it is going to take a while to get back in shape.

Obvioulsy I still need to cut the new keg.

The chillus Convolutes, I still need to weld on the mounting bracket. I wanted to wait until I knew for sure it was placed properly.

I'm gonna give this setup a try and if it works well this should be the last of the changes. I may move my control panel and change how the kettles rest on the stand, but that is not a priority. If all goes well I will then take it all apart and have it powder coated, or ceramic coated for heat tolerance.

Basicly thats what I did for my mash tun. What I found is I average %75 effecency so long as I dont over crush the grain or run it out too fast. Another downfall is not being able to heat the mash tun but thats no big deal. looks like a cool setup you have

I used the Chillus Convolutus for heating and cooling. I recirculate the mash constantly thru the CC and temp controlled water from the HLT thru the CC. I can hold the mash temp very solid, and raise the temp. I am hoping for more flow from this setup than my last setup, due to the need for my setup.
