Yeah, I have two 5 gallon carboys, a 3 gallon and 9 one gallon jugs and still collecting. I use the 3 gallon mainly for making a higher gravity beer or if I split off 2 gallons of a main batch to experiment and leave the rest in the 3 gallon. I make small 1 gallon batches of experimental beers and meads a lot also. A friend has five, 3 for beer, 1 for root beer and one for wine. They are like crack. Carboy crack balls.

I have 2 six gallon glass carboys. I use a 5 gallon keg(s) for secondary/conditioning/serving.

Somehow I get the feeling I need to grab the midwest kit. Maybe add a 6 gal carboy to it later so I can watch whats going on. I always figured it was one of those things where I would be collecting gear indefinetely. Oh and I had a realization that made me sick this morning. All these years I've been working with the 3 gallon corny kegs at my job. We probably have about 25 of them. Too bad I've sprayed fertilizer and herbicides through them for the past 7 years. I began looking at kegging systems and all I could say was "shit".
So mote it be.

Ok, I've got another question, this time about fermenting buckets. I've got a connection with a cake decorator that can get me all the 5 gallon food grade buckets I need. However, they have all been storing cake icing. I'm wondering if there might be any good uses for keeping these around, and if so, should i be worried about them previously storing cake icing. And thanks for all the help so far, I'm definetely in need of it.
So mote it be.

If they had icing in them then someone probably scooped it out with a knife or spatula. Chances are they're full of little nicks and scraps, something you do not want in a fermentor. They would be good for storing grains, Star San, PBW, etc, however.
