So I checked my angle grinder wrench. It does have posts on both sides, and they are sized a little differently. However, the spacing is just the same, and that's the problem.

hrm, well mines like that and it worked fine on the gator grit pad things. The smaller posts fit perfectly.

Maybe you got a different brand?

I can't think of another tool that could do that job.
