The Brutus Savant?

O.k., I'm not claiming my sculpture is going to be any smarter than the Brutus, but instead am paying homage to multiple sources of inspiration, the Brutus, and the Savant Systems 1400.

Anyway, last week I bought steel. Last night I cut most of the framing pieces.

Four legs, upper frame pieces, and lower frame pieces. Today I may cut the cross pieces for the top to support the kettle, HLT, and mash tun, and a few of the lower frame support pieces. Then I need to figure out motor mounting, control panel mounting ...

O.k., this evening I started by cutting the internal spanning pieces that the boil kettle, HLT, and mash tun will sit on. Then I ground them all even:

Here's things kind of fit together as I was testing the dimensions:

Then the rest of the evening was spent with my neighbor who did all the welding. Thanks Thomas! He did the tough work and I just clanged things into place every now and then. Here's what we got done:

As for the control panel, I wasn't going to replicate the Savant. I bought an electrical box at my local big box home improvement store. I have two digital PIDs that I bought on eBay. And I have some switches and internal guts of the electronics. But I'm not sure that it will all fit in that electrical box, so we'll see.

Don't puss out... You are building this sculpture because you can. Temporary workarounds are OK until you gather the scratch to pimp it out properly - but should only be there temporary (ie. carboys empty).

I expect to see some "missle launching" switches and diamond plate, soldier!!!

I didn't know it at the time, but my wife took several pictures as I was working on this. I had to post this one.
