Vent hood question

I am building an indoor brewery in the back of my garage in a small room with a door. I want to put in a vent hood for all the heat and steam. Any ideas on how many cfm needed and what size hood? The room is a 10 x 12. I will be able to open the door and crack the garage door for cross ventalation if needed.

Cheers,
Jason

The easy answer? As much as you can afford!

More appropriately, what is your heat source and how many are there? Venting will differ if you are using propane/natural gas vs. electric.

using propane. no more than 2 burners going at the same time. Actually I will be building the frame from your site Push. I just won't have all the automatic stuff on it. I will be using these burners from b3 h205

I use a 650 cfm fan with about 10 feet of 10" ducting. I find this to be minimally adequate for indoor brewing.

Mine's a bit smaller than Tundra's...If I had a dollar for every time I've said that...but anyway. Mine is ~480cfm, But one size doesn't fit all. It depends on the vol of room you are brewing in. For an open garage I'd say you would need one much larger than 480. If you check the web you can find cfm needed calculators based around bathroom fans and kitchen fans.

For reference though the room I'm in is about 10x15x8. I'd bet that Push's idea would be the best. Also, I've heard of some guys just using an attic fan. The are much cheaper than actual exhaust fan.

Hope that helped, good luck.
