I DO NOT think that is the right valve. The ones that I have seen used are ones explicitly for gas, and have a pilot jet and a thermocouple on them (to sense the lit pilot). You would not want this thing to open up unless the pilot light was on. Bad, bad...

Lonnie actually has the ASCO part numbers in his plans, and in the BYO story on building the Brutus. He does use this brand of valve, just a different model. The one he uses does not have a thermocouple or any sort of sensor for the pilot light. In fact he t's off the gas before the control valve for the pilot.

Personally, I decided to go manual on my Brutus for now. I may eventually add some sort of controls to it... but not for a while.

That probably isn't the right valve, I would use this one http://www.valvestore.com/prodinfo.asp?number=42421 as far as a thermocouple safety, you really only need that if you are going to let the HLT start unattended. This adds a lot of unnessasery cost.

The valves I have are ASCO 8215G20. I belive they are the right valve. They are rated for fuel gas. 0 to 25 psi.

I got mine off E-Bay For about $10.00 each. But, that took some time.

The Valves that Lonnie has on "Brutus 10" are ASCO SC8210G37 (stainless Steel).

Here is a link to the ASCO 8210G37.

http://www.drillspot.com/products/152016/Red-Hat_BY_Asco_8210G37_120_60_110_50_General_Purpose_Solenoid_Valve

They are pretty steep. I also am not so sure that they are the best valve for this setup.
I am sure that the ASCO 8210G37 will do the job, (Lonnie uses them). But, after days searching online for a good valve I am sure that the ASCO 8215G20 is the right valve for the job.

Now this is if you are using low pressure burners. It you are using high pressure burners I have no idea at all what you would use.

I hope this helps,

Tim
