Which Burner?

Ok, I'm getting ready to build by sculpture... I have all the metal cut and ready to weld for a Brutus10. Before I start to weld it up I need to decide on my burners. The type from the plans are just out of the budget right now (along with the temp control stuff). So, What I'm left with is the burner from my old turkey fryer (and I have an second burner already = less $$), or buying a different set of burners. Which burner would you use?

Option 1 (I have two already, need to buy 1):

Option 2 (need to buy 3):

I would use option 2. Those burners use gas more efficiently and distribute heat better than the turkey fryer burners. Plus, the turkey fryer burners are more prone to corrosion and need more upkeep.

I don't know. I have both. Why not use the more efficient, more controllable burner for your mash/boil pots, and use the jet engine for your HLT? That's what I do (Though I only use 2 burners, my MT is a Gott cooler) so I can come up to temp faster.

(By the way, for me, the option 1 burner is the "more efficient" one).

I do the same as BDawg. My "jet engine" came with a Turkey fryer that I got at Sams. I put it on the HLT. Then I bought a Bayou Cajon cooker which came with the other, more controllable and efficient burner that I put on my Boil Kettle. Igloo cooler for the mash, so no burner there.

Eventually when I go to the Brutus, I'll go to the nice big boys from B3.

I just installed three hurricane burners on the stand I helped build over the weekend. $25 each from Amazon.com (free shipping) with a 0-30PSI regulator. I can control from a foot high flame down to about 1/2 inch off the burner surface.

I need to finish up plumbing it all together, but the test burn was amazing...

Holy shit!!! I just got my Banjo Burner today. This thing is freaking HUGE!!! Ordered from Amazon for $25 just like you said! Thanks! If anyone is considering one thats the place to get it. Came with the oriface too. Most places charge close to $40 for the bare burner and then charge you to ship the heavy m-f too.

Anyways, I decided to go with two of the smaller turkey fryer burners for the HLT and Mash tun, and the Banjo for the boil. I also ended up ordering a 0-30 psi propane regulator. My brewstand will be done soon! I can feel it now...
