Question about sculpture welding

It's been over a decade since I last picked up a welding gun of any kind, so bear with me. I'm looking to get back into the swing of things and pick up a good TIG welding unit and while the $2-3k price tag is expected I'm not sure exactly what kind of material I'll be welding. Specifically, how thick is the stainless you guys all use for your components? Everything from modified sanke kegs to SS stand legs is weldable, I just want to make sure to get a unit powerful enough for the task. I was thinking about this one. Any advice?

I don't imagine you need much power. Its brewing equipment, not bridges. My weenie MIG is supposed to be able to weld 1/4 steel, which I have done repairing solid iron fence railings, but for a brewing I can't see welding anything thicker than square tube steel, which is pretty thin, as are kegs, pots, etc. Sure would be nice to be able to weld aluminum / stainless steel, though.

you won't be able to weld aluminium with that, it's dc only. other than that it should be more than enough for any kind of brewing needs

True, though would aluminum welding really be an expectation? Everything I'd planned to weld or make uses 304 stainless; are there situations where aluminum is preferred?
