Pictures of my brew stand...so proud..

I have been looking around for ideas for a brewstand for about 3 or 4 years now - was going to do wood (because of the name) - but then I came across this guy's site - http://www.slobrewer.com - his sculpture looked perfect, and this guy even posted a cut list and a Google Sketchup file with dimensions, etc. -

I showed my Father in-law, and he said that one of his retiree buddies was looking for a project to weld...
two weeks later (and 119 bucks worth of steel, and eventually homebrew) - voila!!

If the picture doesn't show up - the link should work...(I haven't tried posting pics yet..)

He even made a mash paddle from a picture I showed him:

I just wiped this thing down with solvent, will prime and paint with flat black bbq paint for the stealth look. Next, I will be bolting on the pump, water filter, and hopefully a burner will show up at my door here (I haven't a clue how to do that job yet - I'd like the burner to "float" via hard pipe similar to how the brutus 10's burners are done - any tips?)

cheers! :aaron

It was less work for me to edit your post than look up each of those pics. Thought I would save others the trouble too. All you need to do is highlight the link and then click the Img icon above the message block. By the way, great rig there.

That is a great looking rig, wood! I don't get how it works though. Is it a RIMS setup?

Hey bignasty -
Not a RIMS setup - I just placed my coolers and kettle on it for the pictures - I will fly sparge with a pump like I have been doing ghetto brewery-style with quick disconnects - HLT on the bottom and will pump sparge water to the mash on the top, then gravity feed to the kettle from there...

I still need to paint it - I won't use primer, as I was told that the primer might bubble under the bbq high temp stuff, so will go straight to the bbq paint.

I just completely reorganized my garage around this thing - heh heh..

PS - I want to drill a hole in the side of my mashtun and shove the thermometer needle from my little digital thermometer, and will put some silicone around the inside part of it..Is that a bad idea? I am worried that water will seep through into the cooler if I don't seal it properly.

Cheers!! :jnj
