My small hops plant

Thu Jun 13, 2013 9:53 am

So early spring, I was visiting my local gardening center picking up some supplies, and I saw they had small hops plants. Unfortunately, I have no idea what kind they are, but I bought one, and setup some chain and cable I had leftover from other projects. Two of the three main branches are taking off nicely, and grow bigger every day. I hope I'll get some decent cones. I water them regularly, and once a week I give them the mild used nutrient solution from a hydroponic strawberry rig I have. What do you guys think? The snail isnt mine :P

Welcome.

The title made it sound like a personal problem!

Nice looking plant. You might want to cut the smallest shoots and only leave the strongest couple.

Beauty. Im sure at the end of the season you could make yourself a fresh hop ale and maybe get an idea of what variety they are. I think alot of hop plants I have seen in nursery catalogs are cluster hops. Plants are looking nice, I would suggest taking
Bdawwwgs advice and prune it back to some of the strongest bines.

-Pork, with ice on his nads.
Bottled: fresh hop pale ale
On tap: Moose bile strong ale
In the cellar: Taqu'il's Fat Black Imperial Stout
Lagering:
In the fermenter: Moose drool clone
In the works: Taqu'il's Fat Black Imperial stout

I'm trying to slow mine down since it looks like I'll be moving shortly. They're not on the same page though. My centennial grew another 6" yesterday. Luckily we got another late start this year, so they're nowhere near as tall as yours yet. Nice snail. You don't have to deny ownership. We all know.

Wow! Nice plant! The cones are coming! Can't brew for 3 weeks. I just had eye surgery, so thanks for the huge pics!
