I have buds!

Wed Mar 10, 2010 6:30 pm

My second year hops are starting to pop*. Yesterday morning (3/9) one cascade and one nugget had buds. This afternoon most of the (seven) nugget and (six) cascade have buds.

I got about a lb each of cascade and nugget last year. Can't wait to see what they do as 2nd year plants.

Hush up! There is still a foot of snow over my hop plants. Should be gone in the next day or so, but still quite a ways from sprouting back up.

it's been 50+ here, except the last few days been blowing snow. I knew this was gonna happen, so I covered my only plant sprouting. hopefully we have a wet year.

I've got some buds comming up off my 2nd year cascade. I read I should clip them untill the danger of frost is over (april-may up here) any advise?

Thanks

I'd probably clip them. Alternatively, you could place a bucket or a jar over them to shield them from the overnight frost.

Nothing here yet...oh yeah, that's right...I haven't planted them yet.

Looking to get Cascade and Willamette in the grow this year.
