first harvest ale!

Sun Aug 31, 2008 7:55 pm

Just made a my first harvest ale today. Used some homegrown hops that I jsut picked. I am shooting for an IPA. I used some commercial centennial for bittering, and all ofthe cascade hops that I harvested for flavor. It was around 5 ounces (it was the first year, so that is all I got). Hope it turns out well. I had two harvests, so a few ounces were dry and some fresh. I am calling it Rusty Ale, because while it was mashing I drove a rusty nail through my finger fixing my porch.
With my bittering hops, my IBU was about 41, so hopefully, I will be around 50.
