Max. Grain/Liquid vol. for 5Gal Gott Cooler Mashtun

Anybody know how to calculate the maximum amount of grain/H20 that will fit in a 5Gal Gott cooler for mashing? I typically use 1qt H20 per lb of grain and want to see how much grain I can manage to squeeze into this little cooler (for big brews, etc). The cooler holds about 20qts but the grain takes up some additional space. For instance, can I fit 17lbs of grain w/17qts H20?

I've found that to be off, on the wishful thinking side. 13 Lbs @~1 quart/gal seems to be my limit. Even if I skip breakfast.

I agree. I had a brain fart yesterday when brewing with just over 14 lbs. of grain and a 1 to 1 ratio. My 5 gallon cooler was overflowing. I should have used less water. The thickest I've ever gone is .9qt/lb, but that may have done the trick yesterday. Brew and learn.
