I had the same problem with temp control... Texas you know. Then someone on the forums here (sorry I forgot who, so I can't give credit) suggested using an Igloo Ice Cube cooler (with a hole drilled in the top for the airlock) and ice packs.

I just started using that and I am able to keep the cooler in the mid-60's for over 24 hours. The cooler cost me $20 and the re-usable ice packs (the blue liquid in the plastic container) cost $1 each. $24 for some temp control... it was worth it...
