Lager yeast ?

Tue Jun 13, 2006 5:10 am

I am planning on doing a oktoberfest and a helles in the near future. I am debating of using the yeast of white labs german lager or the white labs south german lager. I have used the german lager before, but someone told me that the south german lager is better. I think the german lager of my previous beers turned out great, so I am not sure.

What do you all think?

Erik,

I just finished several lagers using the WLP830 German Lager yeast with great results. The Marzen and Helles turned out great on this yeast. I have a Dopplebock on the yeast now. I am starting a new round of lagers this week using the WLP833 German Bock Lager yeast. I am looking forward to comparing the results of using the different yeasts on the same recipe.
