Thanks for posting these, henning. I'm looking at these parts and I'm unsure of the bore needed. Do you know?

Thanks

The shaft on the Barley Crusher is 3/8"
The shaft on the motor is 1/2"

As an alternate to McMaster I am using the following Grainger parts (they offer better shipping rates for me than McMaster):

4X175 , 4X176 and 3KZ67

Thanks! I'm not sure what these couplings do so I'm not sure which goes where and at which point it steps down from 1/2" to 3/8".

This first part # is the 3/8" fitting - it connects to the shaft of the Barley Crusher

The second part # is the 1/2" fitting - it connects to the shaft of the Motor
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/4X176

The third part # is the "spider" - it is used in between part #1 and #2 above.

Thanks for the detailed info for the mcmaster and grainger parts. I just ordered mine from mcmaster (a bit cheaper). I tried the part numbers that henning listed, but two of the parts that came up would not work because they had different OD's. Here are the part numbers that I ordered instead:
6408K711 - 1/2 bore coupling
6408K113 - 3/8 bore coupling
6408K84 - spider for 1 5/64 OD coupling

Parts are cheaper, but I really get nailed in shipping as UPS does not have a ground option to Hawaii.

Grainger has US post office slow boat option (and a store in Honolulu) that saves me some serious freight coin, especially on these small orders.

Here's a video of my flywheel motorized Barley Crusher. The parts were ordered from McMaster and the motor from the Surplus Warehouse and it is based on the BYO article.

I have it plugged into a GFI protected outlet and built it in a spare shipping crate that I put some casters on the bottom.

Here is a sideways still photo:

And another before I assembled the sheeves.

Still need to add a saftey guard and a door to cover the front, but you get the idea.

I'll post the direct drive mill after I finish that one.
