18 Liter batch

Mon Dec 03, 2012 11:26 pm

I am having a buddy send me a 18 liter stout. The kit doesn't come with any dextrose for priming. My question is how much should I add as primer for my batch when I bottle?

Thanks,

Since 5 gallons is 18.93 liters, you're pretty close to a US 'standard' batch.

Weigh the sugar, don't measure it in volume with a measuring cup.

4.18oz or 118 grams will get you 2.5, possibly a little high for style but it may be what you like

3.16oz or 89.5 grams will get you 2.1, closer to what I'd aim for. Anywhere in the middle would be fine.

Edit: this is assuming you're finishing with 18L of fermented beer in your bottling bucket.
