So two days ago I made a starter with three vials of White Labs Pilsner yeast that was reaching its experation date and still dont have shit for krausen. I live a couple of hours from the nearest brew supply store so can't just run get another vial. Does anyone know if you can make a starter out of Sam Adams Noble Pils? Or am I just screwed?

I'm pretty sure all their beers are filtered and/or pasteurized (someone correct me if I'm wrong) So that would be a non-starter :P . Are there any other local home brewers or craft brewers who could spare you some yeast?

Wish you lived near me, I've got two quarts of creamy WLP833 slurry in the fridge.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I guess I will just brew it and put it in the fridge to keep cold until I can get more yeast shipped or until my starter gets off its dead ass.

I wouldn't force-test my wort that way. Wait til you've got yeast, then brew. If you must, search the archive for the "no-chill" method to produce a wort that may keep as long as you want.
