after looking for a couple weeks on CL for something big enough to fit a 6G carboy and small enough to fit in my bedroom, I got lucky last Friday and
found a guy down the street selling a used Haier 50 bottle wine fridge for $100 (I talked him down to $90) and happily rolled it home with a hand truck.



It can fit a 6 or 6.5 G (the one in the pic) carboy without any modificatin to the door or inside, I just pulled out all the wire shelves and cleaned
it out. I can also fit (2) 5 gallon cornies in there, and maybe a scottie on the compressor bump!

The pics are of my most recent brew a Blonde Ale, at this point I dont have a temp control unit hooked up and am just using the numerical dial on the
fridge, its harder than I thought to be precise with it, but from initial tests it looks like I should have no problem fermenting ales and lagers with it.
I will feel more comfortable once I get a Ranco installed but for now it beats swapping ice. Also loving the glass door to monitor the fermentation
and temp.

yes I know, in the current location it doesnt see any direct sunlight and I believe the glass
is tinted to protect against UV, but most say ALL light is bad, I was enjoying watching the beer

OK, but no playing Uncle Ned and the Glass Bottom Boat and I better not see any "pressed ham" marks on the glass either. Reason being your bare ass could scare your yeastie boys to the point of no return.

see the current zymurgy issue. incandescent light won't skunk beer. fluorescent will, obviously sunlight also.

I've been watching craig's list for a couple of weeks and always seem to be too late on the good deals. But today I found a guy who had six fridges for 50-100 bucks apiece! I already ordered my ranco , so I can finally stop doing the frozen water bottles for temp control. I also ordered some bulk grain and a barley crusher from brewmaster's warehouse, so I can't wait for the fedex guy to get here. Hopefully all my shit will come on friday while me wife is at work.
