Hello all. I got into brewing a few months ago when I went on vacation and saw my best friend's setup in Huntington Beach. After seeing it in use, and drinking some of his beer, I realized I could do this.

So far I have made 4 beers. First one was an Irish Red, which is on draft now and quite tasty. Second was a weizenbock and my first all grain attempt (and curious to see how it turns out). Third is an IPA which I am gonna rack over to a keg in a day or two, and I made a barleywine for my xmas party ;)

Fun hobby and great info on here. Thanks to all!

Welcome to the party :D When did you start the barleywine? They usually need about a year to age.

Friday, lol.

It started out as an Amber Ale... See, I have this problem where I like to over-engineer things a bit? Went from a planned 1.06 or so to 1.076...

I know, I know, its gonna be harsh as hell....

Buts its free beer for my employees and if they bitch then I'll just take it home with me and keep it for a while :)

Nice looking beer though. Maris otter, aromatic, cara munich, some cara red. fuggles, amarillo, and magnum for hops. About 90ibus... white labs wlp001.

1.076 should be fine. I was thinking 1.100+.

Nah, I haven't gone for anything that high yet. I am contemplating a Wee Heavy which will get up to around that, but thats down the road a bit. I'm in the process of upgrading some equipment and learning some more to nail my process down.

And I'm broke and gotta pay bills, but the first answer sounds better ;)

Probably do a few lagers once I can clean my cooler out... A guy over on the Norhtern Brewer site had an idea for using a Lager yeast (and lager temps) to make an IP(L). Sounds interesting... might give that a shot...

Hey,

Just wanted to welcome you. We talked a bit in the chatroom and all, but I think I managed to black out for most of the show. Thankfully there are archives, haha.

In any case, have a good day and see you around.

Have a good one yourself and always a pleasure!
