Bugeater?

A couple folks have asked about the bugeater name. I am a native of Nebraska. Until the last couple of years, Nebraska has had a reputation of being a big football powerhouse. It seems like every other business around here has a name using "Go Big Red" or "Cornhusker". I wanted a name for my brewing operation that reflected my Nebrska heritage, but avoiding the cliche names. Going back in history a bit, the Nebraska football team with by the nickname "Nebraska Bugeaters" from the time we first had a team up until 1905 when they became the "Cornhuskers".

This sounded like enough of an off the wall name to suit me, so I use it. I don't normally eat bugs nor use them in my brew. I do pick them out of the boil now and then when they fall in but I don't think it would matter much if I left them in.

How the huskers look this year? I hope they fixed what was broke. My team? Auburn and last year was a fluke. It happens once every 50 years.

Haven't really been paying attention over the summer (too many 55-60 hour weeks). They should be better now that Callahan has had time to recruit more folks for his style of football. Most of the players up to this point had been recruited by Solich for a completely different style of offense. I am somewhat optimistic for this season. They will do good, just not in contention for any titles.

College baseball has become hot here the last few years. We may actually win the College World Series this year.
