The first caps I used were cork lined, but I'm out. I found bottle caps on Ebay at a good price but they are "rubber lined", would this be a problem?

Thanks,
DF

To be honest, I have never seen cork lined caps. I have used "rubber lined" caps for all of my bottled beers. I am pretty sure they are the standard, especially on commercial beers.

I'm in Alabama. The cork lined caps came out of a soft drink bottling plant my family ran many years ago. I just ordered a supply of the plastic lined type. My next brew will be a Irish type red ale from a Northern Brewing extract kit. I'm hoping it will be close to a Smithwicks.

LIAR!!! You can't brew in Alabama...it's illegal!

I use the plastic lined caps - oxygen absorbing.

How long ago was that? I don't doubt you, just never heard of such things myself.

+75 years ago. The equipment has been gone for 40 years, but some odds and ends were still in the building until about 10 years ago and that is where I got those caps. I'm 64 years old and I remember all the caps had cork liners when I was a kid
