Hello there!

My name is Rodrigo (Rod) from south of Brazil. I'm homebrewer since '09.

Starting with a big worry, temperature control during fermentation.

Today, I have a special room to hold the fermenters. This has no window, I made that way to avoid heat in.

Many homebrewers in Brazil have a refrigerator with full gauge to control the temp.

Negative point: to much water drained inside the refrigerator, in addition I will have to get one for each fermenter.

My idea is to set a air-conditioner for controlling the temp. of my ALES, but do you know the difference between the room air temp. and the temp. inside the fermenter? Maybe the air conditioner won’t be able to hold the fermenter temp. at 68F.

Since I have only ALES, air-conditioner will be a good choice?
Cheers!
Rod

Welcome to the forum, Rod

You can either get a thermowell for the fermenter or you can put one of the stick on thermometers and cover it with styro or a towel or something like that. Just try to insulate the thermometer from the air. In doing so, you will get a more accurate temp. reading of the fermenter.
How big is the room?
If it is huge, you could probably build a smaller chamber inside the room.
