I used to live in DC and while they may advertise they have over 1000 beers the truth is they never seemed to have more than 500 in stock at any given time. Sometimes had to order three or four times to find a beer they had in stock. That said it is a great bar.

I agree. While the Brick is one of my favorite places in DC, it does get frustrating sometimes. Last time I was there, through 4 rounds of drinks I had to order 13 different beers. Not so good. Thursdays is the day they get their shipments in. Depending upon the time of the week and time of the year, that 1000 beer selection is not so great.

Where is it located? I overnight in Crystal City, next to Washington Regan and would like to give it a try.

Take the Metro to Dupont Circle, it's about a 5minute stroll.

As for the food I recommend stick with anything grilled or fried, at least that is what I have been told by the waitstaff I have known who used to work there. I really like their perogies.

When I lived in DC and worked on Embassy Row, the Brick was a regular stop.
The downside of the 500 beer menu is twofold: 1) The servers never seemed to know anything about the beers and were not comfortable suggesting new things. 2) When you have 500 beers in the cellar, every 8th or 9th beer I would order would be either dead flat, oxidized, skunked or otherwise abused. It's like Russian Roulette sometimes. If you stick with a happening beer, that usually isn't a problem, but I have had some real dogs there. When it was dead flat I could sometimes talk them into comping me a new beer, but not always.

That's true, having that huge a selection leads to problems! And now they're carrying Bell's, 9 of them I think. Bottle and on Draft.

It's right off Dupont Circle. Kind of hard to find if you are not familiar with the area.
It is on 22nd street (Pretty sure it's 22nd). If you are coming from Dupont, get onto P street going west. Go about 2-3 blocks and you will come to an intersection on the right corner is a nice little restaurant called the Fireplace (hard to miss since they have a fireplace on the corner of the street) and an Exxon caddy corner.
Take a right, and abut halfway up the block you will see red awnings. You have to go inside to what I think is a hotel of some sort. There are two entrances on the right. The first one leads down stairs, the second one you go up a short flight. Go upstairs. The downstairs is always about 95 degrees, and it feels rather dungeonous.

I dunno I always like the basement, it has an old European vibe to it, while the upstairs always reminds me of a bad 60s hotel lounge.
