No news is good news, I suppose. I haven't heard anything significant recently.

Today is Jay's 44th birthday & the 62nd day since the crash.

I made a few calls today to see if I could find out anything new. Jay got moved out of ICU, but had a bit of a set back. Somehow he contracted a spinal fluid infection. His body was able to fight it off, but it was definitely an unneeded complication. According to our mutual friends he is "awake" and able to recognize some visitors, but is still unable to communicate. It's unknown at this time if he even understands where he is, what has happened or even if there's brain damage, severe or otherwise.

We've slowed down at work after a busy summer season. Time off is available, but my budget is just too tight to be able to make the trip east for a visit. As of now, that's all I've got.

Again, I thank you all for your kind words & support.

And I just got this linked to me. Jay clutching a teddy bear that his son Lucas (7 or 8 years old now) gave to him. From what I hear that bear's twin is currently being clutched by Lucas constantly.

He's been trying like hell to communicate, but to no avail. He is definitely recognizing people & understands that part of his skull is missing. This is what I heard this morning:

Day 87: Jay had a bit of a setback last night and was transferred back to Spectrum to examine an issue with a clot in his bad arm. They did a CT on his arm and a contrast chest CT where they found another small clot in his lungs. He is currently on a heparin drip to treat both the clot in his arm and his lungs until they can get that stable to where the coumadin will take effect. He is stable, on 4th south of Butterworth hospital room ..., where he will remain for a few days until his condition improves. Time to ramp up the prayers, folks.

This GoFundMe campaign has been set up for his family as well. I sent previous donations directly to Rachel. Anything further can be sent to this campaign anonymously or under your name or the BN Army.
