I don't understand how to load a picture to go with the name. Do you upload (and how) from you computer of do you have to do it from a web site? I'm lost ....help! Thanks Brewnut

It looks like you can load an avatar from the web but not from a file stored on your PC. I have one on my PC I like to use and have no option of loading it. Whats up?????

Sorry guys again it comes down to bandwidth and space. In the near future we might be able to make hosting avatars a reality but right now its not possible due to space constraints. If you need help finding a place to have your avatar hosted for free let me know and i might be able to help you out.

Any free webhost will sotre your avatars or sigs, then you can just include the link. Here is a list i found on another forum for avatar hosting links. They should all be free. Then you can upload any image you have on your computer or find on the web.

That worked but what about posting an upload from my PC?
Must I first upload it to an image hosting site?

Yes, I host my avatar picture/gif on my photobucket account and link to it from there. Mine was already the correct size, but if I remember correctly, you can pick the size you want it to be when you load the link in the user control panel. I think I just selected the maximum avatar size possible which is 80 x 80 pixels.
